Proverbs - Chapter 6

Chapter 6 is full of advice about a myriad of things. It discusses not becoming a "security" for another, laziness, characteristics of evil, and another lesson on adultery.

Discussed first in Proverbs 6:1-5 is the act of becoming a security for another person. It basically states that you should not put yourself up as a security for another person's debt or pledge. It states that you should not sleep until you have gone to the person and gotten a release from the liability of their debt.

Proverbs 6:6-12 discusses laziness or being a "sluggard". It says that that the man who is lazy and always resting will end up in poverty. It advises us to be like the ant. An ant puts his provisions aside for the future and is prepared.

Proverbs 6:12-19 discusses evil people and behaviors. An evil person has a corrupt mouth, uses deceiving body language, thingk about and desires evil, and causes discord among others.
Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things the Lord hates; seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush to evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

That passage addresses pride, lying, murdering, wickedness, evil, false witness, and the purposeful trouble-maker.

Proverbs 6:20-35 takes reminds us to keep God's teaching in our hearts and to use them as a guide at all times. It also takes another look at adultery. It says that a man who commits adultery "lacks judgment".

  1. Hi, Ali...I just came from my blog, the one in which you commented and asked about Amazon Vine.

BTW, I appreciate your support in visiting and commenting.

Basically, I established a profile page on Amazon...maybe it starts with reviewing something on a product page. You may already have a profile page if you've ever reviewed on an Amazon product page.

Then, after I had reviewed for awhile...about a year, I think, they invited me to participate in Vine. They send a newsletter, from which you choose books and/or other products. You review them on a special Vine page, but they end up on the product pages too, and also on your profile page.

    It's really fun!
