1 Book: Breaking the Bank by Yona Zeldis McDonough

2 Words: Magic Money

3 Settings/Characters: Bank ATM, Mia Saul - the down on her luck single parent who begins getting "bonus" money from the ATM, Patrick Fitzpatrick - she met him in jail. He believes in her while others are staging interventions

4 Likes/Dislikes: I liked the originality of the story line. It was unlike anything I had read before. I liked the flow of the book. It was a quick read, but it still had depth. I disliked how everyone was over the top upset with Mia. It made me angry at them. At times I wasn't sure she had done enough from my reading to warrent such drastic measures. I liked Mia's daughter Eden. She is such a child of divorce. Her acting out and anger was so realistic to me.

5 Stars or Less: 4.5

On Monday the author will be have a guest blog post and I will be doing a full review. You should check back there might just be a giveaway...

  7. I'm about halfway through this book, hoping to finish by tomorrow. I agree with everything you've said about the characters. I feel sorry for Mia, yet I don't. I mean, what's a girl to do when dealt with a hand like that? She gets a really bad rap from her family and they really do need to cool it. Eden reminds me A LOT of my 2 step-daughters. Ms. McDonough hit the nail on the head with her character!
Looking forward to your full review! :)
